Photography is in Family

Today I want to share with you a few pictures that are not of birds.
Jake and I went for a Sunday afternoon drive with our son,Steve
and our granddaughter Kai.
Being in a family of photographers,Kai is quite handy with a camera, even at 4 years of age.
I gave her my little point and shoot and these are two of the pictures she took.
Kai pointed the camera out the window and snapped this picture.
All I have done to it is a little cropping to straighten the horizon.
She decided to do a self portrait, and this is the result.
Once Kai was done taking pictures I took the same little camera and from the other side of the seat got this shot.

Just so I don't leave out the birds completely, here are two pictures I got on Sunday evening.
These were taken at the local lagoons, with the swarm light of evening, giving that perfect light.
These ducks are Northern Shovelers.
This male was very intent on feeding and did not notice me on the shore.
Perhaps some day I will have to give this blog over to Kai and let her show
her photography skills, but for now I will keep on sharing what Jake and I do.

All creation bears God's autograph.

  7. It's so much fun spending time with the grandchildren. Your little one is adorable and I bet she will love photography just like you do. She did a great job with the landscape picture and blue sky. Almost every week end we used to get our two grandsons and have a little adventure. They are 19 & 21 now!! But they still come over and spend time with grandma! They never forget those memories you build along the way.

  13. Hi Ruth, Oh My Goodness---your granddaughter is beautiful... Shel looks older than 4 in that first picture. WOW!!!!

Yes---the love of photography must run in the family. IF Kai is 'half' as good as you and Jake, she'll be a great photographer... She certainly did well on the first one.

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  19. It's definitely in the genes! To have such a great eye at that age is amazing, and to hold the camera steady! It's so much easier nowadays with the point and shoot cameras. Your little Kai is such a cutie! And I think she should have her own blog too - A child's point of view! Have a blessed week-end!

The reflection of the duck, the coloring and the waterdrop captured are just stunning!
