My Story

This above picture taken by Jake one year ago to the day, reminds me of my life.
The road is not always straight or easy, the future is unknown.
The one thing I do know is that God walks each step with me and at times carries me when I cannot take another step. Here is a link to another blog, where a small part of my story is featured.

Once again I take this time to say Thank-you for all your love and support.

  2. Ruth this is perfect for showing life, even with the ups and downs, it is still beautiful, just like life. when i was a teen we used to go joy riding on a road like this, the faster we went the more our stomach felt funny as we flew over the up and down.

  3. Over the years I've seen so many roads like that! You're right - they do represent our life! As long as we focus forward in faith that the road is there, He will bring us over the next hill. Not a good idea to to rush things and pass someone when coming up on a hill like that - never know what's going to hit you! If I don't watch the road, I could end up in the ditch! HE is the way! May HE direct your path today! Hugs!

  4. I've been following your blog for a short while. I was drawn to it by the photos. After reading your story I think I was led to it by a far greater power than the photos. Your bumpy road photo is so appropriate for life and all the more touching because it was taken by your husband.

  9. I don't think I've seen a photo of a road, or path that displays Life's Journey.

  10. Dear Ruth,

Your picture depects so well the journey through grief, because it is not a straight up journey. Just about the time you think you are raising up to the point you can see over the top of the hill/mountain, you slip back down again for a while. But the wonderful thing is, the sun/Son is truly shine on the other side drawing you towards that point where you can see and enjoy life the way the Son planned for you to.

You are a beautiful witness. I feel blessed to have found you....And besides that, I really have enjoy yours and Jake's photography. God bless your day....Janice

  12. I have just returned from the other blog, your story does need to be told and only you can do it best. You are a strong woman, and I bet you didn't know how strong till this happened. I know each day must still be a struggle for you, but one step at a time is all we can do.

  13. Jake's photo is a wonderful illustration of the bumpy road that is life. So many of his photos have brought you comfort in the last months that it seems like there was a guiding hand behind his choice of subjects. I think Jake too is walking each step with you and surrounding you with his love.

  16. Hi Ruth...
I too, read your story and I can tell how much you loved Jake...I am very sorry for this loss in your life. I know that the two of you shared many happy times and many special memories....MEMORIES ~ Isn't it wonderful, that God loves us so much, that HE gives us memories to live on forever in our hearts....
My mom and dads love for one another was just like yours and Jakes...It was beautiful, and when my mom went to her heavenly home, it broke my dads heart...He really has not been the same since. My heart grieves for him because he is so sad....
These are the times that we need to lean on the everlasting arms of God...
    He will see you through...
Hugs and more hugs to you...

  17. Hi Ruth
would like to share a prayer from the Proverbs 31 Devotional; with the hope that it brings encouragement and strength to you.
    Shalom

Dear Lord, I praise You for being my burden bearer. Thank You for always taking my “I can’ts” and transforming them through Your power and Your blessings. Help me to remember not to be anxious or worried when I face difficulties, but to simply bring my issues to You again and again. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Psalm 116:7, “Be at rest once more, O my soul, for the LORD has been good to you.” (NIV)

    In Christian Love

  19. A beautiful photo by Jake, Ruth. Symbolic of life, and also of Jake's life. For him the paths have now been made straight and the ups and downs removed. Praise God for the strength He gives to carry on, and for the hope that is within us.

  20. You are correct in that life is never straight and easy. I think if it was always straight and easy we would probably forget about God and think we could do everything on our own.

  26. I did not know your past or that you were a recent widow, Ruth. Bless you for putting one foot in front of another and for your continuing positive attitude through these challenging times. He would have wanted you to be happy and I am sure he is so proud of how well you have done since his passing. You will see him again, but you have a happy life ahead of you until you do.

  27. Ruth, I believe you are truly being used by God in a remarkable way. To share the story of the bumpy roads and the tradedy in your life and turn your heartache into ways to not only get through the tough times...but to also encourage and lift others up in the process...it's a wonderful thing you are doing! I believe God has great things in store for you. Just keep doing what you're doing...then, later on, you can look back, watch it unfold, and be amazed!
