Feeling Sentimental

Today I am feeling a little sentimental,OK,honestly,a lot sentimental and lonely.
Because of this I am choosing to share some of Jake's pictures.
I want to remember what a good photographer he was, even though he would have never admitted that.
Here are a few more slide scans, taken many years ago,but the beauty Jake captured is still just as lovely.

This first picture was probably taken about 18 years ago. This is an Obedient Plant,in our garden here in town.

The Screech Owl goes back much further than that.
I will not venture a guess on when it was taken.

Same goes for this Tree Swallow.
I know we had several nest boxes up for them in the country,so it must be at least 20 years ago, maybe more.

The Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, was perhaps about 18 or 19 years ago. I do remember the location and the circumstances from this shoot.
Dates don't matter, the bird still looks just the same.

Oh how I would love to be at this place with my Sweetheart.
Memories,Sweet memories.
This is taken in Whiteshell Provincial Park,in eastern Manitoba.

I cannot tell where this might have been taken. It matters not,the scene is one of beauty.I think it may be close to Whiteshell Park, but I could be wrong.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing some more of Jake's work.
It makes him feel so much closer when I see these images,so I am doing this as much for myself as for others.

This is a verse I still claim and remind myself of often,
When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.
when you walk through the fire, you will not be burned;the flames will not set you ablaze.
Isaiah 43:2

  1. Even though our loved ones are no longer with us in the physical realm, they certainly are ever present and living in our hearts! What exquisite photos Jake captured. He certainly had an eye for excellent composition. Even though these are from your archives, they look as fresh and new as today. Hugs!!

  8. Oh Sweetie, I feel your pain today... Even though Susan was just a good friend and thankfully not my spouse, it has been hard for me to deal with. I know that she is out-of-pain and in a better place, but I already miss her. When I was writing one of my blog posts for next week, I thought of Susan and knew that she never missed reading my blog. She loved to read and then comment about the post. Oh how I miss that gal...

SO--I know how you feel, but I also know that your pain is much deeper than mine. You are doing the right thing though and that is keeping Jake alive. He was a fabulous photographer. The pictures are wonderful.

Pray for us as we drive to Atlanta tomorrow for Susan's funeral.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  22. Ruth, These photos are such beautiful treasures. Your Jake had a wonderful God given talent, and what a wonderful way to honor his memory by sharing his photography. They are all wonderful images, and many precious memories for you. My favorite is the Obedience Flower, but then again they are all so beautiful.
My heart goes out to you, and I am sorry for your pain. I lost my first husband many years ago. He was my high school sweetheart.

That verse of scripture is one of my favorites. I pray that the Lord will pour out His Grace upon you each and every day,as you stand on His Word, and so freely share it with all of us. May God fill you afresh with His Joy and Peace.

    Sincerely, Dianne :)

I've been where you are...lost my first hubby when he was 43 ... the best advice came from my Mom..."it doesn't get better---it just gets further away". Wishing you a beautiful week and I'm so thankful for your friendship.

  37. Those slides scanned up beautifully! Great shots.

It's been a bit of an emotional time for me too as I have sold D's condo and am in the process of purging and moving. Hopefully the moving part is over by this weekend. The deal actually closes on Aug 15. It has taken several trips to the coast. Anyway another closure to deal with that has been bathed with a few tears as well. God has been in it though and I know that right well. Off to Vancouver tomorrow again.

  38. The world is filled with many people but almost always it is just one memory that remains with us. The one we share our lives with. It is similar in the world of wildlife. Many species have the same mate for life.

  44. That screech howl is an amazing shot! Just love it -

As I walked thru the cathedrals in Europe and breathed in the musty scents - I thought of all who had walked before me, and filled the cavernous areas with their music - the music we created mingled in the same air space.

As I look at your precious Jake's photo's I think how he looked at that shot - and clicked the camera at just the right moment to capture the beauty. You get to see thru his eyes - a special gift.

The last photo is my favorite of this group. It makes me think of my mom - and how in her last days she told us she was swimming in a lake and it was so beautiful and refreshing. God has something beautiful in store for us - that our loved ones are already sharing in.

Praying God continues to comfort you in the lonely times.
