Reflections

Here are a few reflections I captured on Friday,July 8,2011.
My sister,Becky and I had gone to a nearby city and camping area,to see the flooding.I did not get really good pictures of the flooded area, but it is sad to see expensive cottages standing in water and agricultural fields under water.

This first picture was in a park.I always enjoy the Waterlilies there.
I had not noticed the reflection, until I saw it on the computer.

I am not an artist, but with my camera in hand,I can pretend to be one.
This is my rendition of a water color picture.
Upside down Day Lilies.

OK,I admit, someone else planted the flowers and I just saw a picture worth taking.
Here is the whole scene.

We checked out a small, yet usually beautiful park along the river.
This is the sight we saw.Still beautiful, but water where there should be green grass and picnic tables.

You know I have a hard time doing a blog without at least one bird photo.
This Black Tern and a few others were very annoyed at our presence.
They would hover in the air,and scream, letting us know they didn't like our presence.
I found out that they had nests not too far away and we were considered a danger.
At least I was able to get some good shots before walking away.

Thought for Today:
Prayer changes things;
Worry changes nothing.

I need to remind myself of this one daily.

  1. I love your flower watercolor!! Reminds me of Monet, I think he painted a similar one! And I have never seen or even heard of a black tern, what a good in flight picture!!

  9. As for worry ... I had a little battle with that these last couple of days ... gripped me in my tummy. I couldn't understand why that particular thing should have upset me so but I think I was just really tired from my trip to the coast. The enemy likes to attack when we are at our lowest.

  12. Your "Tern on the Fly" is really a neat picture! Like the rest of them, too.
Flooding leaves such a mess for so long to have to clean up, I always feel badly for the people that live in the area.
I have to do the same with the worry, especially this year of the drought here and my being a farmerette.
    Blessings!

  16. Girl, Awesome photography and that reflections photo is out of site! Reminds me of a Monet painting. You need to have that one framed.

Its sad to read about all the flooding when other parts of the country are in bad drought conditions. We lift all those that are in need up in prayer.

God bless and keep you safe.

  24. Oh, how I LOVE reflections! The water lily shot is magnificent and takes me a dreamy, fairy-tale kind of headspace.

The tern photo is scary to me. We have Arctic Terns here and they are mean! They do their hovering thing and then dive at us in the boat. I cover my head until we've passed them. :o)

The flooding has been horrendous this year but I guess the water hasn't stopped the ditch lilies much. I love seeing them bloom every year.

  36. Id like to invite everyone to read a blog post today of a woman who joined the old order Mennonite church from the outside. I'm extremely lucky in publishing her very first, and most likely last post on Amish Stories. A lot of work was involved in her getting permission to be even able to write anything on the internet, and permission was given by her bishop. So please stop by and read about a woman who gave-up her car and other worldly possessions for the person that she loved. Richard from Amish Stories.
