Time Well Spent

Back on December 30th,I got a call from Steve, wondering if I wanted to join him on photo walk.
I needed no time to decide, this sounded great.
He picked me up and we went about a mile out of town to the local lake.
The scenery was gorgeous as we walked along the edge of the frozen lake.
Here are a few pictures I got that day.
I have many more but they still need to be edited,so will come at a future date.

I always enjoy capturing the photographer at work.
You can see that the trees were gorgeous with a layer of hoarfrost and some snow.

If you look over Steve's shoulder, you can see that the beavers have taken down some of the smaller trees. We saw a lot of beaver activity,in the form of chewed up tree trunks. Some of the trees were too large and they had not been able to get them down.

You can see the camera hanging from Steve's shoulder, but he also wanted to see how this would look with the iPhone.

Here I captured a picture of the picture.
The digital age allows us to experiment without adding cost to the end result.
It makes photography even more enjoyable.

Of course I had to get in close to really see how the picture looked on the iPhone.
I must say it does a pretty good job,but I won't be selling my cameras anytime soon.

Thanks Steve for making my day by asking me to join you. I had a wonderful time and hope we can do it again.

Thought for Today:
Today,be thankful for the beauty, the peace, and the marvel of nature.

  2. Nothing makes a favorite hobby more enjoyable than doing it with a loved one who enjoys it as much as you do. It's so neat that you and Steve can share your love of photography together.

  6. This is a very cool concept, to take a picture of the picture, and while it is still aimed at the real thing! You always take such interesting and wonderful pictures, Ruth! It does look a bit slippery and hazardous out there, be careful, my friend!

  10. Ruth, I am so happy for you to have such a wonderful son take you on a fun expedition. Whenever ours visits I learn so much in the brief hours he is able to spend with us.

Wonderful photos of your rugged up photographer and surroundings.
My daughter daughter uses her iphone most of the time and no longer carts around her heavy camera on overseas trips. I have thought about investing in one as well for those times when you are out shopping and something catches your eye.

  13. I love that picture of the picture on the phone, plus the fact that it looks like Narnia--if only there were a lamp post off in the distance . . . thank you for pointing out the beaver's food supply. I knew they cut down tree, I'd never seen their harvesting before. Pretty cool!

  16. Marvellous to be able to go out with a fellow photographer, and especially to such a beautiful place (then again, beautiful places can be found almost anywhere if you're looking for it).

I've learned that it's not the equipment but the equipment operator who makes the shot.

Beautiful photos Ruth. Have a peaceful Sunday.

  24. That must have been a really special day. Those are times when everything seems to sparkle.

Those last two pictures are like "a picture in a picture." We used to have something like that on a TV that we bought many years ago. We thought it was really great; however, I don't think we every used it--probably because we forgot how to make it work!

  28. What a beautiful setting for photos and how nice to have someone to go shooting with you. That is interesting with the iPhone and the shot looks very clear. In another blog I visit...Keri's A Little Piece of Me....she has been experimenting with a lens you put on the iPhone and take macro. She is getting great shots! He might want to try one.
