Clouds

It seems that we have been seeing more clouds recently than sunshine.
I do think clouds are beautiful,so today I want to share a few cloud images from the last week or so.

While coming home from last weeks family gathering,I had to pull over to get a shot of this scene.
That long cloud stretched almost from south to north,it was amazing.

The day before I headed out to the lake just at the west edge of town.
I saw that we might be in for a pretty sunset.
It was not spectacular as far as colour was concerned, but I liked how the sun spread its beams down past the clouds.

Later that same evening,as I was almost ready to call it a day,I got a text from my son,Steve. It said,Mom look east of your place.I knew that it must be good,so I grabbed my camera and dashed to the back yard.Looking slightly to the southeast, this greeted me.amazing!

I turned and looked to the northeast and I saw this spectacular sight. The sun was about to set,but as it did it illuminated the thunderclouds which were to the east.
The colours and the drama in the sky was amazing.

Straight ahead of me were these clouds, constantly changing in form and colour.I took many pictures that day and each one is a keeper, but I didn't want to bore anyone,so I picked just a few.
The power in a storm like that is almost more than I can wrap my mind around.
We did have tornado warnings that day,and further east two tornados were seen.

Thought for today comes from the Bible:
"Who covereth the heaven with clouds, who prepareth rain for the earth,
who maketh grass to grow upon the mountains."
Psalm 147:8 (KJV)

  8. I think your beautiful clouds are as beautiful as sunshine. The pictures you got by looking away from the setting sun are absolutely gorgeous.

  9. Ruth, these clouds are wonderful and majestic, and I can see the wonderful light in them. I have trouble transferring the beauty of clouds to the camera lens, so I know these had to be even much better in person. I see both pinks and golds. We have been getting a lot of unusual clouds, too. What do you account for it? I don't remember ever seeing ones like this lately. But I don't want to see any if it involves a tornado warning!!!

  15. Such beauty in the skys. You have some great pictures.

It is cloudy here today. We are praying for rain. The beautiful, cloudless days have been great, but everything is way too dry.

    Have a blessed Sunday.

  17. Ruth, wonderful! I too like the clouds, and find myself drawn to them. Especially the thunderheads! I miss the Manitoba thunder storms. We don't get them much out here. I always enjoyed watching them travel across the sky and was always impressed with the power too!
Seems we have been having more cloud than sun too. A cool wet weather to go with it. Sure hope we get some summer, it's been a crummy spring!

  25. What a wonderful thought to go with your awesome cloud pictures. I love clouds and am forever looking toward the sky. Living about 20 miles South of Lake Erie the weather is always changing, and can bring in some interesting shapes. I find your first one very interesting.

  30. Hi Ruth, Thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving your kind message. Your cloud photos are lovely. I've always enjoyed watching the clouds as they move across the sky creating shapes. This spring we've had a lot of late afternoon thunderheads forming, and at the end of the day, they take on the color of setting sun. Just beautiful! I love the Bible quote you used. It's perfect!

  33. Great cloud shots, Ruth, and love those rays and the reflection of sunset on the water. (I too can get a bit carried away when there are spectacular cloud formations - and also keep most of the photos for myself).

  35. Ruth I have to say all these photos are fantastic. I enjoyed viewing them all. I think my most favorite is the first image. What a great landscape composition. And I always appreciate your thoughts of the day.
Hope you are enjoying the first day of summer. Well I guess it isn't official until around 7pm but it sure is hot here in my part of Ontario, Canada, but I am not complaining.
Have a great rest of the week.
    Dianne :)
