An Early Morning

A week ago on Saturday,September 1,I got up EARLY in order to capture the sunrise.
I left my house  a few minutes after 6AM and headed out of town, looking for the best spot to capture the sunrise.

There were no clouds in the sky this morning and so the sunrise was not as pretty as I had hoped for.
Here that beautiful sun is just peeking over the horizon.

Once the sun was up,I started back home, but found more beauty along the way.
The grain terminal in the distance almost looks like it is floating in water.
I loved that golden morning light.

While I was stopped to capture the above image,I turned to look to the west and saw the moon in the sky.I don't take a lot of moon pictures, but this was one opportunity I could not pass up.

Just below the moon I saw this tree bathed in the warm light of the morning sun.
I know that this is not a perfect picture, but I really liked the colour of the scene.

Getting closer to town I saw this American Kestrel sitting on the wires. Experience has told me that as soon as I stop it will flay away.I guess this bird was different as it sat long enough for me to get several shots of it.I was hoping he would turn around, but you see, beggars can't be choosers,so I had to settle for this view.

I was happy with the pictures I got that morning, but a few days later I was able to photograph a much prettier sunrise. Pictures to follow in another post to come soon,so stay tuned.

Thought for today:
Creation is filled with signs that point to the Creator.

  3. Such pretty light in all of these. Occasionally I see a kestrel, but like you said, they rarely sit still long enough to get a picture of them.

  4. That is probably the most beautiful cloudless sunrise I've ever seen. Great capture. And the kestrel did do you the honor of looking over his shoulder at you. He looks like a truly beautiful bird.

  12. Your photos remind me of the ones I used to take when on retreat.

They also remind me to be aware and thankful for the beauty around us... and to take the time to 'see'

  13. Every time i see your name pop up and see all you've been doing i can't help but think how well you have coped with widowhood. How great is our God - an ever present help! So comforting to know that He had everything in hand - even our widowhood!

Bogged down in winter prep at the moment - was much easier with the two of us but i try to strike something off the list every day.

  14. What a Beautiful morning to be out so early with camera in hand. You did a great job of capturing the sunrise. Loved the vivid morning colours.
I don't think I have ever seen an American Kestrel. I do enjoy your view and all you share.
It has been awhile since I have been here. Summer has flown by and soon we will witness the lovely hues of Autumn.
And yes, signs of our Great Creator are everywhere, and it is wonderful to have eyes to see it all, and fellow photographers to share the Beauty that surrounds them.
    God Bless you Ruth
    Hugs, Dianne :)

  18. What a way to start the day. Those are all so beautiful. I agree it is usually the clouds that make a sunrise or sunset picture special, but that certainly wasn't true in this case....

  26. These are wonderful photos, Ruth. Clouds do add drama to sunrises and sunsets but there's something about the purity of colour of a cloudless sky. There's such beauty in these.
