Summer vs.Winter

I was checking some older memory cards yesterday and was surprised to find pictures from last summer.

I saw this one and thought it looked OK.Then I noticed some little legs sticking out over the petal. There is also a small bug flying to the right of the yellow centre.

I must have waited a second or two and found out who the legs belonged to.

This is obviously a macro shot.I think it good be an Alyssum, but am not sure. Even though the flowers are white, they are pleasant change from snow.

I did title the blog Summer vs. Winter,so there have to be some winter pictures as well.
This is from a recent drive in the country. The mound is at the side of a watering hole for the cattle.
The white on white caught my attention.

One more scene looking down the road. The blue of the sky adds a nice touch to the frost covered trees.

Thought for Today:
I saw this on another blog and thought it fit in here as well.
Hope you don't mind Kerri.

There is so much beauty in the world, but you must allow yourself to see it.

Great shots, Ruth. Love the daisy with spider although the spider is kind of creepy. Diane

Your winter photos are exceptionally beautiful, Ruth. Despite that, I am looking forward to when I see white petal as in your flower images. I've had enough winter for this year. :)

Beautiful photos of white flowers and white snow. I really like both snow pictures, especially the soft blue sky above the wintry scene in the last photo!

What a beautiful heavy frost. Enjoyed all of the photos.

Spiders rank near the top of my least-favorite things! But I have to admit that those two little legs peaking over the daisy petal added interest to the photo. I love that last shot, though...the frosty tree against the blue winter sky. Gorgeous.

Oh, wow, the white-on-white is beautiful! I know you're probably tired of snow, but it's such a novelty for me and you photographed it so well in both shots. Don't you love to see little surprises when shooting flowers? How fun to have that little bug flying in the center and the spider on one of the petals. Awesome job!

Hi Ruth...Lovely comparisons...I love white flower, but seem to get yucky brown spots when they get rained on, just the same as snow when it is melting hahaha!! ; )
All the same I do have a lot of white flower , and a lot of white snow !!
Nice post Ruth ....that last photo is gorgeous!!
Amen to the saying at the end!

Your winter scenes are always the BEST, shimmering with an almost unearthly beauty. And the daisy shot... beauty with just a bit of creepiness thrown in.

You make both winter and summer look inviting! Somehow winter here always looks more dreary than these photos :-) I'm ready for those daisies!

Isn't it amazing what we can see when we look at photos on a computer screen? Although I'm looking forward to Spring, I like both of your winter shots. The last one is especially gorgeous.

Hi Ruth, Love your summer and winter photos... Quite different. As much as I love summer photos, I really really LOVE winter pictures. The white on white is neat, but I love the one with the blue sky...

I absolutely love the white on white winter scene - it's just soooooo white! Stunning! Fun photo of daisy with her visitors frolicking in the sunshine! Spring - please come soon!

Lovely daisy photos with their surprise visitors. I am almost surprised when I don't see a bug or two or three when I look at closeup flower shots on the computer. Funny how you seldom see them when you're actually looking at the flower.
