Then and Now

It's time to connect with my blogging friends again.
I guess my biggest problem these days is that I am not finding much to photograph except snow.
I have gone back to last year about this time  and picked a few pictures which show what I was seeing then.

You can see that all the ice is gone from the water and the ducks have arrived. This picture was taken on March 31,2012 and I can guarantee that we will still have snow and ice by the 31st this year.

Here is a far-away picture of some my favourite ducks, the Northern Pintail. To me these ducks look so elegant.

A walk beside our local lake gave me this shot. I was delighted to see a lake full of diamonds, just for me,that morning.

Looking out of my back door,I was greeted by this little friend.See,there is green grass, where now there is about 2 feet of snow.

This is what it looks like in my world right now. No,this is not on my yard, but only about a mile or so from town. Yes,I know the snow will melt in time.

One more picture and one of different nature. For those of you don't follow me on Facebook I will show  this one. Many of you know that my favourite Southern Gospel group is Legacy Five.On Wednesday,I had the chance to go and hear them again.I was going to get a simple picture of the guys around the piano, but the leader Scott Fowler had other ideas. Here he is doing a special up close pose for me. These guys sing well, but they also enjoy having fun.
I apologize for the poor quality of this picture, but
i only had my iPhone and the light was not that good.

  1. Wow, these guys really let you have fun and get your money's worth from the concert!! SOME singers do not allow any pictures!! I see how well the little rabbit blends in with the log. We have no Pintail Ducks and I don't think I have ever seen one, you used the correct word when you said they are elegant. The snow looks like several yards high!!! Probably due to perspective.

  2. Hi Ruth, So glad you got to hear/see the Legacy Five again. I know you were in 7th heaven that day. Cute photo.

Everyone around here is talking about this cold March--as compared to last year. In fact, they say this has been the coldest March in 17 years...

Here, we had a mild winter --although March has been colder than normal. We got very little snow, but did have alot of RAIN. Since we got so much rain and it never did get very cold, the forecasters are saying that our summer will be very BUGGY... Yuk!!!

Hope your snow leaves you soon.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  3. I love that diamond filled water surface and who can resist the ducks? Last year was the winter that never was and this year it's the winter that never ends.

  4. Good morning Ruth ~ Those are beautiful ducks, and what a difference from last year with green grass and the little bunny and this year deep snow. I went to you tube to look up Legacy Five and listened to I Found Grace. They are GREAT!

Have a lovely weekend ~ FlowerLady

  6. I love the water shot, too. I know what you mean about the snow, we don't have any on the ground now, but it is in the forecast. I'm ready to get out and take some "warmer" shots myself.

  12. Well, since it's YOUR snow, I can appreciate its beauty. The pintail ducks are really interesting. I don't believe I've ever seen one. I never knew how much I didn't know until I started blogging. Love Scott Fowler. I've never seen Legacy Five perform, but I always enjoyed Scott when he performed with the Cathedral Quartet.

  13. I'm so ready, Ruth, for spring. We still have snow here and most of our lakes and streams are still frozen. I go out with my camera, but am pretty uninspired these days...looks like we will have another 10 days of unusually cold weather...hoping to make a big jump in temps after that! I always enjoy stopping by!

  14. Glad you got to see them live! We've got a snowstorm on the way for Sunday and Monday. Hard to believe its almost April!

  15. Betsy did a Facebook post this morning showing how much further ahead Spring was last year. At least we don't have all the snow that you have -- Tennessee couldn't handle it!

  16. Ruth, nice shots! I hope your snow isn't around for much longer. It's certainly dragging out isn't it. It's sunny here this morning but was frosty last night. Unusual for us to have frost this late.
    Weird weather!

  18. For those of us here in Texas....we enjoy those "SNOW" pictures. Something we don't get to see often.
I do like Legacy Five as well...they are truly a talented group of singers.
Hope Spring is on it's way soon for you all...

  25. Still lots of snow on the ground here too, but then spring isn't on the schedule here for a while yet. I love the Pintails too. They stop at Creamer's Field when they are migrating. I'm hoping to see them in a few weeks.

  26. Hang in there, Ruth! Spring will arrive soon. I know it doesn't help to say this, but us southerners enjoy seeing the white stuff. Hope you have a blessed Sunday! Oh, and the pic of the band is so sweet.

  27. Beautiful duck, snow and bunny pix, Ruth. The white on white snow picture is lovely. Before you know it you'll be seeing green again! I also like the "diamonds" sparkling on the lake.
