Pink and Orange

Flowers and raindrops are made for each other.
The flowers are Geraniums in one of my planters.
I will let them speak for themselves.

Finally a beautiful male Baltimore Oriole.I have had more Orioles this year than I have had for many years.I so enjoy seeing and hearing them.I still hear an occasional one,but they must be busy nesting because I don't get to see them now.

Since Sunday,June 16,is Father's day,may I wish any fathers who read this a very Happy Father's Day.
I had a wonderful father to guide me as I was growing up and I have many great memories of him.
When my son came along I had the privilege to watch as Jake was a good father to him.Jake and Steve were more than just father and son, they were very good friends and for that I am thankful.Along came a granddaughter,Kai, and Jake once again was a wonderful Grandpa and loved every minute of his role. Today I watch as Steve does a great job of being a Dad and friend to his daughter and so the cycle continues.I have been blessed to have many good men in my life who guided with love and tenderness.

  2. Yes, it certainly is a wonderful post Ruth. I too love raindrops on flowers and your Oriole is thrilling to see.
Counting our blessings is so fulfilling. I think of you and Jake often. If it had not been for blogging, I would never have known either of you. It was such a wonderful thing that my daughter fairly forced me into it when times were tough for me. I have gained a lot more than I have given.

  3. Your oriole shot is fabulous, it is my favorite today! I believe men die sooner than women, I once heard it may involve testosterone. Anyway, what a weird comment this is turning into! Father's Day will be sad for many today...

  15. Love your sentiments. Perfect for today. We don't get orioles very often--mainly in February. They always remind me of my dad and brother.

  20. You got stunning shots of the flowers and the Oriole! Wow! The Geraniums are so profuse and pretty, but the only thing about I don't like is their fragrance! It's not my favorite. Yet, everything smells fresher and lovelier after a good rain! Your thoughts about Father's Day and the men in your life are wonderful!

  24. Beautiful and very creative shots of the water droplets. I know how difficult they can be to capture.
I have lots of Orioles too, and I too haven't seen many females lately, but can hear the males singing all day.

  26. Hi Ruth, Regarding the geraniums, and the way you said "let them speak for themselves" ... it's truly one of those cases where a picture is worth a 1000 words ... or maybe many more in this case. Those are such beautiful flowers and your pictures are great! I also enjoyed your comments about the men in your life. I feel confident in saying that Jake would be so proud of the level of photography you have accomplished and the way you share it on the web. Truly a pleasure to follow your blog and thank you for your kind comments on mine. John

  30. Don't know which is prettier...the flowers or the Oriole! That Oriole shot is really lovely! I wish I saw Orioles on a regular basis. Thanks for identifying that little flax flower. I had no idea what it was, but really love them.

  31. I loved the sweet tribute to your dad, your husband and your son.

The blossoms with raindrops...reminds me of a line from "These are a Few of My Favorite Things" from The Sound of Music. The raindrop-spattered blossoms are lovely, as is the colorful oriole.

  32. I love the orioles also. Fine shot. And a lovely tribute to the men who were and are fathers in your life.
