Animal Babies

My regular blog readers will know that this is a place which often features birds and blossoms, with some occasional scenery shot thrown in.Well, today it will feature animal babies.

I was driving down a back road the other day a came to a sudden stop when I saw these two in the fence. That little baby is about as cute as can be. The sun was casting a beautiful light on these two.
I believe these are miniature Donkeys, but since I am not a farmer,I could be wrong.

I do know what these are.A White-tailed Doe and her Fawn.
Once again they were just on the other side of the ditch.I was very sure they would take off the minute I stopped the car,but they were in no hurry to leave.

Mama, finally had enough of this woman and her camera and so baby had to follow. That's alright,I got my pictures,so I was content.

Ok,so this is not a baby Goldfinch, but he is so cute sitting there among the thistles.I wish I had been able to get closer, but didn't want to trespass on private property and likely if I had tried to get closer the bird would have flown away.

Whether this is a baby or not,I do not know,I just liked how he sat there on his own lily pad, soaking up the sun.

A baby Mallard is adorable.I like this picture for several reason.
For one the little guy is just plain cute and then that perfect reflection makes this a great picture for me.

I hope you enjoyed this visit with some baby animals, likely next time we will be looking at flowers and scenery.

  1. Oh my goodness, the mom and baby deer are adorable! And I love that you got the shadow of the baby's head on the mom's hip! The frog is colorful and pretty! It looks like there are two more eyes behind him!

  3. I loved all of these, Ruth. That little donkey is adorable. The photo of the doe and her fawn is amazing, and I loved the one with the white "warning flag" displayed as she ran to shelter. The picture of the goldfinch in the thistles is a winner, too. Great set.

  12. Ahhwwww.... I adore baby animals in nature but of course, you always have to approach them carefully as not to upset mommy or daddy. Especially the deer. We have so many of them here and they get so aggressive but GOSH, you have such a cute picture of a fawn, so sweet. And the donkey, I think that's really neat! Love the photos!

  24. Hi Ruth, Sure have some nice pics in this post. Isn't it great when wildlife is tame enough to stick around for a few photos! I wonder if you are driving again this year? As always, thank you for your kind comments on my blog. Take care, John

  25. Oh, what great baby and small animal shots! I really like the last one of the young mallard and its reflection. The white-tailed deer you have there look a lot bigger than our local mule deer. There were twin mule deer fawns in our backyard a couple of days ago, and they look similar to your little fawn, but with bigger ears. That's where the "mule" part of mule deer comes from...their big ears.
