Nashville,Tennessee Part 1

I am back in Bogland.I don't know if anyone missed me,but I missed being here.
I had the privilege of taking a short vacation to Nashville,TN. I left on December 29th,2014 and came back on January 2nd,2015
To many people this is probably no big deal, but it was a BIG deal for me.You see,I had never been on an aircraft before, had never been to Nashville, although I have heard so much about it.

I did enjoy most of the flight, but wasn't crazy about descending through the clouds and not being able to see anything, but,I made it. YEAH!!!

Here are a couple of shots taken from the air, just because I could.

I like how neat and tidy the world looks from up there. No garbage or any such thing.

We arrived in Nashville in the late afternoon,so the lights at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel were already on.It was quite a sight to see and enjoy. This place is huge and gorgeous.

After check-in we made our way to our room.I should add that I was travelling with a friend of mine.
I had to stop and get a picture of the Cascades area with all the lights. WOW!

We had come here for some concerts, but first on the agenda was to meet my long time blogging friends,George and Betsy Adams. Both of them have blogs and are also on Facebook.
We have commented back and forth for many years,we even chatted on the phone twice, but had never met,so I was super excited to meet them.

Not long after we arrived at the Hotel,George and Betsy pulled up and took us to Cracker Barrel for supper. What can I say? Meeting them was a HUGE thrill for me,it was all and more than than I had expected. These two folks are kind, loving and the sweetest folk one could ever wish to meet.

After a few hours of none stop conversation,it was time for them to head home.Good-byes were difficult and came with a few tears,no,more than a few on my part.
I hope this was only, until we meet again, for I know we WILL meet again.
I love you  George and Betsy. Thanks for taking the time to come to Nashville to meet me.

Friends really are the ROSES in the garden of life.

  1. We need to thank you (and Gwen) for making the time to see us. I didn't realize time could pass so quickly as it did while we were together. We hope you can make it back to Tennessee so we can share more of our beautiful state with you. And, as we warned you, we just might show up in Morden one of these days.

  7. We have met George and Betsy, too!!! And it was beyond exciting!! They are a wonderful and Christian couple! We did not eat out, but I had a birthday cake for Betsy and we gave them a tour of our church. I hope that one day we can meet you! You are brave to fly! Your pictures from the plane are wonderful, like something an astronaut would snap! The lights are all just gorgeous, and must have been even more marvelous in person. Everything looks BIG!

  8. What a fabulous trip. I don't know if it you just never had the opportunity to fly or if it filled you with apprehension. If the latter, good for you for taking charge and opening yourself up to the rest of the world for yourself. I'm happy for you and your blog friends to have met. I know what it's like when you connect like that.. and in such an amazing city, too. I'm looking forward to part two.

  9. Dear Ruth ~ Wow, how wonderful that you got to meet Betsy and George!!!

You had your first flight too, that's exciting! My first flight was to Spain as a newlywed, joining my dear husband there as he was stationed at the US Navy base in Rota. Quite the experience.

Glad you were able to do this and meet two very sweet people too.

    Happy 2015 ~ FlowerLady

  16. I'm so happy that you had a great trip, Ruth. I think it's so much better to be new at something - like flying, than to be bored with it like many are that travel a lot. I bet you fly again. The lights are beautiful and I'm sure you had a blast meeting George and Betsy. Blessings, Diane

  18. Happy New Year, Ruth! How fun that you were able to make the trip to Nashville AND meet up with blogging friends to boot! Our youngest son has lived in Nashville since 2000 when he started college there...and he never came home! He actually lives south of the city now in Spring Hill. We have enjoyed many fun vists there through the years and will be returning next month. And, yes..it really is amazing what our world looks like from WAY up there! Have a good week!
