SUNFLOWERS and FRIENDS

I know that several blogging friends have indicated their love for sunflowers and one in particular who just celebrated a birthday.Betsy had a special day yesterday and I know she loves sunflowers so,this may be a day late but I hope you still enjoy these photos,Betsy.
I also hope that these bright blooms, which grow freely around here, will brighten the day for each one who reads this.

While trying to get a close-up shot, this bee decided to get in the picture.

Large fields of sunflowers can be seen around my area. The farmers grow them for bird feed and also for the sunflower oil which they produce.I actually like to use this oil in baking.

It doesn't matter how many I see,I still think this is a beautiful flower.

Trust me to get shots from the back side, just because.

The intricate details on these heads is amazing.

Closing Thought:

  13. Sunflowers make me feel happy! You have some wonderful photos Ruth. Thanks for sharing.

When we lived in Spain, while DH was in the US Navy 1970-1973, we would see fields and fields of sunflowers. A sweet memory of a wonderful time in our life.

  19. That must be so neat to see fields of sunflowers. I know when traveling across the US we have seen sunflowers growing along the roadsides and occasionally in a field particularly in the state of Nebraska.

  20. Ahhhh, sunflowers. So pretty, and some grow amazingly tall. We have had farmers here who have grown fields of them. Beautiful pictures.

  21. Oh Ruth, you have filled the 'empty' place in my photographic heart. I love sunflowers and I love photographing them, they are so...... well, photogenic!. I look forward to see them every year around this time. I did not have one sunflower come up in my garden this year. We have families of quail in our backyard and I think they ate every single seed! And for some reason, I'm not seeing many around where I live. You have done and exceptional job with these beautiful photos.

  22. Ruth, your sunflower pictures are just the best. I have a fondness for pictures of flowers with bees, so I will save yours on my screen saver. I grew a few sunflowers this year for the first time in at least 25 years but the blooms are a little puny.

I came over to your blog from Flower Lady Lorraine. My husband departed this life four months ago so I have joined your widows' ranks.
