Peace In The Storm

Southern Manitoba has had numerous stormy skies this year.Thankfully, most of these storms have only brought rain, although we have had severe wind and even some damage from some storms.
I will choose to focus on the beauty of a stormy sky.
Sometimes storms can disrupt our peace, but God is the Author of peace so that is where we need to place our trust.

The skies are constantly changing.I love the evening light. It gives a richness to each scene.

Our local lake is a favourite spot for me to get pictures. It looks like perhaps the storms are over for one day.

The dark sky makes this rather ominous. As long as I am in a safe place I enjoy watching the storms approach.

The lack of color adds to the drama of a picture like this.

Of course we know that no storms last forever. The sunshine comes again and the birds, like this Bobolink show up.

Clouds bring storms and sometimes damaging winds.Roses have thorns, but sill they are so delicate a flower and so pretty.

Try to find the good in each situation and the beauty in every day.

  1. Was talking with my sister-in-law during one of the Winnipeg storms recently. No fun - but she was safe inside and intended to stay there. Under His Wings I am safely abiding! Lovely photos!

  2. The Bobolink is so special to me. I have never seen one! Maybe not even a picture of one. He is so cute! Yes, storms are very interesting to watch from a distance if we are in a safe place. I think the first picture is my favorite storm one. Such a beautiful contrast of the grey and brilliant green. With the sun still on it!

  4. Oh yes...there's few things that are more glorious than when the storm clouds are separated by a glimpse of the sun's rays peeking through the cracks. Blue, cloudless skies are beautiful but it's hard to imagine the sky without them. I love watching a storm pass through...the sky is an ever-changing spectacle and you will never see a re-run! I am thinking of the words to this old song...Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand; Keep me safe 'til the storm passes by. Beautiful post!

  5. All these guys are beautiful but I think I like the dark ones best of all. Like you as long as I'm inside when those clouds are out there. We are watching a tropical storm coming out into the Gulf and it's not going to be a hurricane but we're going to get lots and lots of rain starting Wednesday night and Thursday they're even giving out sand bags in St Petersburg

  14. Yes, I like to think that life needs a bit of both light and shadow. Without the storms, perhaps we wouldn't appreciate sunlight as much. I like all the differing light in your photos, Ruth, but I think the first two are very special. I ordered a new lens for the Olympus today - the 17mm pancake. I'm excited to try it.

  19. Ruth, beautiful images! Those big dramatic says are definitely of interest to me! We are currently in the midst of rain. It's quite refreshing. The first rain we have had since July! So things were pretty dry around here!
