My Weekly Bird ABC

'E' birds are not as numerous as some others.
I would like to mention that the bird names are ones used in the
Thayer Bird software.
The Eastern Bluebird is not abundant here but is seen every year.
These Eastern Kingbirds were putting on a great display for us. Another shot of the Eastern Bluebird. Obviously this one was feeding some nestlings.
I think these birds are just about the prettiest things around.
Here is another Eastern Kingbird.
This picture shows the banded tail well.
The Eurasian Wigeon is definitely not common in our area.
We were fortunate to see this one at a nature preserve some years ago.
Today's pictures are a mix of Jake's and Ruth's.
Take time to enjoy God's created world.

  1. Always impressed with your ABC birds. You get so many! Great photo's Ruth and Jake.

I have never seen that duck, how cool.

  2. So good to see the Bluebirds Ruth. Maybe soon? We had Kingbirds nest not far from the house last summer right over the creek.
Have a wonderful rest of the week.

  3. Love your alphabet birds, Ruth... The Bluebird is one of my all-time favorite birds.

    Thanks for sharing... Great pictures.

  4. Such pretty birds! Thanks for sharing the pictures!

  5. Love your Kingbird in mid-air Ruth! And, of course, the bluebirds are simply beautiful. Have a lovely day!

  6. The small North American birds are so varied and so beautiful. I dearly love your bluebirds and all the others. You two capture them so well.

  7. Love the birds! I had some Eastern Kingbirds in my yard last year eating mullberries. I am hoping they come back this year.

    Love your bluebird photos!

  8. I've never seen a wigeon! Cool!

  9. You've done another great job with your birds for 'E'. I'm enjoying this series very much.

  10. You are really almost in the middle of the continent so should get some western as well as eastern birds. I wish we had more bluebirds here. Your pictures are lovely.

  11. Beautiful photos of that sun up above this post but this bottom one of the duck with the water, gorgeous shot.

  12. Bird lovers/watchers living in the middle of the continent have an advantage of seeing both eastern and western species, don't they? Lovely pictures as always, Ruth.

  13. How Exciting... I love the Eastern Bluebirds and the Kingbird and I have not seen a wigeon! Love these ABC series Ruth. Have a blessed day!

  14. Ruth how wonderful to be out birding! Love all that you shared today! One activity I look forward in AZ..up early to capture birds in the desert! hugs

  15. Your alphabet is going very well! Can't wait till you get to some of the harder letters :-) These are 3 very beautiful E's.
