My Weekly Bird ABC

We have arrived at the midway point of the alphabet.
The letter 'M' has a variety of colorful birds.
The first bird for today is a Mountain Bluebird.
The blue of this bird is unbelievable,so vibrant.

Marbled Godwit are birds that are quite new for us.
Last year Jake and I had the chance to get lots of pictures of these birds.
A flock of about 6-8 birds gave us some great opportunities. Photo by Ruth
The little Marsh Wren is singing his heart out.
As with the House Wren these birds are quite the singers.
The Merlin was photographed during a late snow storm. Perhaps that is why he was willing to have his picture taken. Photo by Ruth
A Magnolia Warbler is as pretty as could be.
The distinctive colors set it apart from many other birds. Photo by Jake
The Mallard is one bird recognized by most people Photo by Jake
These two males seem to be discussing who will get the female.
If you look carefully you can see the female just behind the male on the left. Photo by Jake
The final picture is another Marbled Godwit.
I think he is telling the photographers to leave. Photo by Ruth
God's laughter is heard in the song of birds.

The Magnolia warbler is awesome, Ruth! I've never seen a Mountain Bluebird but would really like to some day - but guess I have to go WEST ;-) Very nice post - Merlin is so neat, too!

So many unusual birds that I've never seen! I love that mountain bluebird. All of them are wonderful photos. I'm really enjoying your alphabet. I'm glad to see that Merlin, because when we first saw a Kestrel we thought that was what it was...now I can see the differences. Love the Mallard "face off"....someone is really laying down the line to "keep away from my girl!".

Oh MY!! What a variety of M birds. Some I have never seen. The Marsh Wren is delightful with his song..and I enjoyed the Mallards beak to beak...and the Marbled Godwit which I have not seen and of course the beauty of the Magnolia Warbler. Mtn. Bluebird is another I've not seen. Nice post Ruth!

Loved your "m" photos, Ruth. The marbled godwits are really cool shorebirds. Your "in flight" shot is superb.

Love your "M" birds, Ruth.... I saw my first Mockingbird this weekend in Texas. I didn't get a photo of course, but was excited to see one in person.

Hope you had a great week/weekend.

We are glad to be home.. It was a wonderful trip --just getting to see my son and family. BUT--the weather was horrible. Oh Well!!!!

I'm going to check through some of your older blog posts.
Hugs,
Betsy

Ruth: What an assortment of birds that are strange to me. I would have a hard time with identity of them. you captured them wonderfully.

Ruth and Jake,
What a wonderful variety of pictures today for the letter M! I love that Mountain blue bird and that pic of the two mallards is quite good! I've never seen a godwit before and as usual Jake has captured them in such unique ways..it does look like that godwit is saying...bye!! I'm out-of-here!!

Fabulous bird series! For the second year in a row we've had the Merlins nesting near us. All the songbirds hide when they're around. Hopefully I'll get a few photos of them this summer. All of your pictures are absolutely beautiful!
