Recent Sightings

The last few days have been busy.
It's not easy to find all the new birds around.
Here are two birds we have had the joy of photographing recently.
The first three pictures are of the Upland Sandpiper.
We found this bird just south of our home town.

It was almost comical to see this bird trying to perch on a wire.
It is a delicate balancing act,but he managed to do it The above photos are done by Ruth and the next two by Jake. We had heard of a Say's Phoebe being seen not too far from our place, so off we went in search of it. On our second time out we were successful. This bird is definitely out of it's usual range,so is quite a treat to see. Here are two of many picture which Jake took. We feel so fortunate to have been able to see and photograph these birds, part of God's creation. The Say's Phoebe is also a 'life' bird for us. Enjoy happiness, treasure joy.

The Say Pheobe is a gorgeous bird, the orange coloring makes it different than the other Pheobes. Wonderful photos.

I just happened to be blog hopping and came across your blog. Wonderful photography! The Lord sure has blessed us with such beauty. So many times people think we live in such a horrible world... they just need to open their eyes.

I just saw my first upland sandpiper picture the other night -- someone caught it in a bird banding net. What a neat bird and I love your pictures of it!

These are both interesting birds, Ruth. The sandpiper is just a little too big to land gracefully on the wire. The phoebe is so pretty.

Neat finds, and great pictures. The upland sandpiper is really a neat looking bird and your shot of it perching on the wire is very interesting..as it had to fan it's tail to help with balance..
I've never heard of the Say's phoebe..but it sure is colorful..Glad you were able to track it and get these pics..great post!!

Wow Ruth... Love those birds. I've never seen them before. You have so many beautiful birds up there.

I love air-shows also--and have seen the Thunderbirds perform before. Amazing!!!!

We're home from a great vacation.. I'll post in the morning. Thanks again for the cute card.

Hugs,
Betsy

That Sandpiper has an identity crisis or is destined for greatness. I have seen one perched on a Mullen flower, but it was only 3 feet from the ground. Great pictures.

I'm very glad you found these two new birds. I must admit I got a chuckle out of the balancing act done by sandpiper.

I think I would pee myself if I saw some of your birds land in my backyard.

Thank you very much for visiting my Pick a Peck of Pixels blog and for the comment you left me there.

Ruth: I love that first series of photos. The bird looks like it is holding the wire as a guide to land.
