WOOD DUCKS

Yesterday,April 17,Jake and I spent the day in Winnipeg.
Together we took over 500 pictures,it was a great day.
The highlight was the Wood Ducks at St.Vital Park.
The small pond had at least 8 pair of Woodies on it,and maybe more,
and since these birds, although, wild, are used to humans, photography was excellent.
All images were taken at 400mm and have not been cropped.
Only slight adjustments to lighting has been done.
The above photo shows the Wood Duck pair coming out of the water,to eat some grass.
Mr. and Mrs. Woodie.
Are they not just the most handsome couple?
Each time I look at these pictures I smile, these ducks are so beautiful.

This is only a few of my many pictures of these birds.
I hope you have enjoyed my Wood Ducks as much as I do.
The other birds willing to pose were the Ring-billed Gulls,
but that is another post.

COME AND SEE THE WORKS OF THE LORD.

Great shots. We see Woodies sometimes here in Cache Valley but not very often. It is nice when we happen on to them and you are right, they are beautiful.

Those are shots to be proud of. I have no photos anywhere near that good of the woodies. They were the first duck I encountered as a youth growing up beside a backwoods stream and I still think they are the most beautiful duck in our area.

I am always happy to find these ducks, which isn't very often. Even the female has an attractive appearance. Beautiful set of pictures.

Those are amazing birds and the photo's are so crisp and clear - very very nice.
When i read "wood ducks" I am such a newbie - I thought, "Does she mean those are wooden ducks - they could be they are so colorful and interesting looking." But I looked and read again I realized they are alive.

Love the pictures!

We are on spring break this week. So thankful for a bit of extra time to catch up on some blogging. I've been remiss lately - school has become so busy!

I think these are just beautiful ducks, Ruth. 500 pictures? That's even more than I used to take in one day. LOL

Hi Ruth i am new here, just followed your comment in Riet's blog. I am glad i wandered here, as your photos of the ducks look like paintings, very clear and very detailed. How i wish i have those 400mm also. We have birds also in our property but eludes my small lens, hehe. I blog for tropical plants and perennial blooms. thank you.
