A few More Memories

I find it difficult to make this post, but feel that I need to do it.
Many of you have asked how I am doing.
The short answer is 'pretty good'.
Having said that, there are times when the memories overwhelm me and the flood gates open up.
Here is the last picture of Jake ,taken about two weeks before his passing.

The puppy belongs to Jake's brother and his family.
This little bundle of fur, brought a smile to his lips each time she came.

Winter is now upon us and here is a recent picture I took through the back door window.

Finally I want to share just one picture of the many flowers I received.

The last day or so I have had the following song on my mind and in my heart. The words express my feeling perfectly.

He Giveth More Grace
He giveth more grace as our burdens grow greater,
  1. He sendeth more strength as our labors increase;
To added afflictions He addeth His mercy,
To multiplied trials He multiplies peace.
  2. When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed ere the day is half done,
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources
Our Father’s full giving is only begun.
  3. His love has no limits, His grace has no measure,
  4. His power no boundary known unto men;
  5. For out of His infinite riches in Jesus
He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again.
  6. Thanks again for your faithful prayers and notes.

  1. such a precious memory of him with that sweet little dog and God has blessed you with your own Picture Post Card window. Lovely view. brrrrh on the snow though. we are at 85 today here in Florida and certainly not view like yours.

  2. It's hard for us to even imagine what pain, grief and sorrow one goes through during at time such as this. What a beautiful photo of Jake with the puppy! A photo of a perfect rose - created by God! The frost on the window shows me that God keeps His promises and that after the dead of winter, there will come the joy of a new spring. Hugs! You are thought of often!

  3. So true! And that 's a nice "memory" picture.

  4. This is so beautiful. I'm crying as I read this. Your song touches my heart because of the comfort it gives you as well as things going on with me as well. I love your pictures, each one is so precious. Your winter picture is glorious and I love the picture with Jake and the cute little dog. Please continue to share your memories and your life as you go on. Blessings, Diane

  5. Hi Ruth, It's good to hear from you. I know it has to be terribly hard --and I also know that you have to be very lonely at times. Even when there is family and friends around, not having Jake there takes a big chunk out of your heart.

That being said---I know you have alot of faith and are counting on God to help your through this pain. I won't say that time will help--but it does (a little)... Then ---there will be the little things which come along to bring the tears.... That's just life --and we all have those good times and those not-so-good times.

God Bless You, my Friend. I think of you constantly ---and you are always in my prayers. I love that picture of Jake --with that sweet doggie.

    Love you,

  6. I love that song. It has been a favourite for many years and the words are so true. Memories may be bittersweet, but they are precious. Praying for an extra portion of God's peace for you today.

  7. I am so glad to see a new post from you, Ruth! This is a very good picture of Jake with the cute little dog. He looks so well and at peace, also. I can't begin to imagine what you are going through, but I do know for certain that God does. His promises and blessings are many, as I have not heard of someone passing like Jake did with no pain. I even see the hint of a smile on his face. Your pictures are beautiful, the one looking out the door is quite stunning. I enjoy your posts so very much and my prayer for you is the peace of God.

  8. Peace be with you.

  9. A wonderful memory to share with us Ruth!
I am hoping that snow holds off here and we don't have any for a long time.

You are never far from my thoughts.

  10. I think of you often and ask God to bring you comfort through these days.

  11. Thank you my dear for answering the question I was afraid to ask, and thank you for the picture of Jake and the little fur-ball. So often I go back to the post of the sad news and just look at Jake's happy face and you beaming in the photo of both of you together.

Thank God you have your faith to lean upon, it is the one thing that always somehow sees us through.

    Hugs and Blessings . . . Arija

  12. Ruth, you will always treasure that last, peaceful picture of Jake. Ditto to everything Karin said! I'm not familiar with the song, but the words are very beautiful and promising! Wishing you God's Peace and the Comfort of the Holy Spirit!

  13. "He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again." That is just beautiful.

Thank you for sharing with us. There is healing in that process.

  14. What a sweet picture of Jake. I have thought of you many times, which might seem unusual because we haven't met yet, but our prayer requests have been filled with the names of so many people that are battling cancer, many who I don't know either. Your photography blog has made me feel like I know you and the life you and Jake shared...and what you enjoyed together seeing together...God's creation. May His peace be with you.

  15. Thank God for giving us memories.

  16. Oh so difficult to get through these times, I know. Although I cannot imagine my life without my husband, I do know that even after 7 years, I still mourn the loss of my mother. I'm not sure we can ever get "over" it, but I am often reminded that He does not give us more than we can bear, and that tomorrow morning the sun will shine and with that your load may be lightened just a bit; you will think of that handsome man and your heart will be warmed by the joy you shared.

PS: Ruth, that is a remarkable photo through your doorway.

  17. Ah yes, and He does give the grace, I can attest to that.

I'm always glad to see a post up by you and I know it is hard, especially at the beginning, to write of these things ... but you know, it is healing too.

I miss my D every day. Sometimes I talk to him ... I just can't hear him answer back. I think those that have gone before us are closer than we think! At least it comforts me to think so.

  18. Thanks for sharing Ruth - been thinking about you...

    Praying for you.

  19. Ruth, lovely shots! Bless you!
It looks like a Manitoba winter has arrived! Brrr! It's below zero here too! Much to cold for the coast

  20. Thanks for sharing the photos and the comforting song. Well wishes to you and your family!

  21. Ruth,

Thank you so much for this post. The Lord really does give and give, doesn't He? I love this picture of Jake and the puppy. Hugs to you from far away. Know that you are thought of and prayed for lots!!

  22. Jake looks so at peace.Thank you for posting the picture. Your pictures are great and thanks for sharing. The blanket of fluffy snow hides the dirt and makes things look clean and beautiful. May God be with you and put his comforting arms around you and help you through this difficult time. Jake is looking down upon you and his spirit is with you always..

  23. Thanks for sharing this photo of Jake with us and of the adorable little dog!

    The song is so true.

  24. Such a great memory and photo.

That little puppy looks just about like our little dog when she was a puppy.

  25. Thanks for sharing, Ruth. Although I have no idea what your going through, my heart goes out to you. You are in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless.

  26. Jake looks happy and at peace in this photo, despite his circumstances - thank you for sharing that. What an uplifting song Ruth ! We know God provides comfort through his promise of eternal life with Him. May He give you peace.

Beautiful photos of the sun peering through your window, and that lovely rose.

  27. This is a beautiful post. I'm glad God's grace is uplifting you on a daily basis. I'm also glad you are keeping Jake's memory alive. I'm not so glad about the snow.

  28. Right now the memories open the flood gates and it is the time to grieve. Jake will always be with you, and a time will come when the memories bring more smiles than tears. May God's comfort be with you.

  29. Hi Ruth. Hugs and kisses to you. ♥♥ I enjoyed seeing the photo of Jake. It made me smile.

It is -19 C right now. But with that nasty wind it's feeling like -25C. I'm glad I don't have to walk in it.

    Know I'm thinking about you.
