Happy Valentine's Day

It may be at the end of the day,but my wishes are sent from the heart.
Today has been a difficult day for me.
The loss of one so dear has been heavy on my heart.
In all this sorrow,God has sent blessings, more than I can understand.

This morning while having tea at a friends house,my son drives up.He comes in to give me one long stemmed blush pink rose and a hug,and an 'I love you,Mom'.Wow,what a way to make a mother's heart melt.I love you too Steve.

My way of making this rose last longer is to take pictures.
Both of these are taken in the same room, but with different lighting. The dark background had the sunshine on the rose.

After I got home from work a friend and her two children drove up.The children being an almost 16 year old and one almost 14.These children have been almost like grandchildren to me and Jake.
The 16 year old had bought this rose for me at school today.
The flower had been without water for a while so I thought it best to cut it down and put it in a small jar.

The 14 year old had spent the day at home and baked Chocolate Chip Cookies with Mom.
He brought a small bag of fresh baked goodness.

Once again I was overwhelmed by the love of this family.
On a day of many tears.I still have reason to praise God for His goodness and sending my son and these friends into my life.

Thought for today:
Although the threads of my life have often seemed knotted,
I know,by faith,that on the other side
of the embroidery there is a crown.

Very special Valentines Ruth. They truly were from the heart, weren't they. If you and Jake hadn't had such a special and loving relationship this day wouldn't have been so poignant but merely a reminder of what wasn't.

As I have said before, only time gives us relief from a heavy heart. I found a little note today that my husband left me. Said,"Don't need fancy card to say I love you. So I'll say it. I love You." I felt an emotion, but tired to stay focused on the the good times and memories. It will get better.

I know today had to be so hard for you, but sometimes God does send his earthly angels to help out! Your roses are beautiful and I can tell just from the photo that the cookies are home made. Roses will last longer if you put just a pinch of sugar in the water and cut the stem at an angle, but the beauty of youes will last forever in these photos now.

Oh Ruth, I know it's been hard today for you... With time, those feelings won't be so 'raw'... BUT--you still do such a good job of remembering the good times and not dwelling on the pain.

Your son is so special... I'm so glad you heard from him. How special is that... AND--to have friends like you do, that only makes the day even better.

May God Bless You, my friend.
Hugs,
Betsy

Your precious heart is so heavy because of the many fabulous treasures, meaningful memories and warm, loving family and friends you have. Such a heaviness can be seen as a blessing, because if one never had any of that, there must be a terrible emptiness in one's heart. You bless me in that amid the tears, you are grateful! Wrapping you in loving thoughts and prayers!

Wow - surrounded by love on this day Ruth - what a blessing, even through your tears. God sent some angels your way today to make that burden just a little lighter.

Lovely quote from Corrie - I've read her book of her wartime experience - must reading for everyone !

Ah Ruth, I'm sorry your heart was so heavy yesterday. I'm so glad you had those that wrapped their arms of love around you to comfort you.

I ignored the day. D and I were not "special" day people as we counted every day special ... so I find that the holidays aren't as bad as I would have thought.

Those roses are beautiful, but the thoughts and love that came with them are even more beautiful! I'm so glad you have good friends and family to show you their love on the hard days. I like both photos of the white rose, but think I like the first one best.
