An Early Morning

A week ago on Saturday,September 1,I got up EARLY in order to capture the sunrise.
I left my house  a few minutes after 6AM and headed out of town, looking for the best spot to capture the sunrise.

There were no clouds in the sky this morning and so the sunrise was not as pretty as I had hoped for.
Here that beautiful sun is just peeking over the horizon.

Once the sun was up,I started back home, but found more beauty along the way.
The grain terminal in the distance almost looks like it is floating in water.
I loved that golden morning light.

While I was stopped to capture the above image,I turned to look to the west and saw the moon in the sky.I don't take a lot of moon pictures, but this was one opportunity I could not pass up.

Just below the moon I saw this tree bathed in the warm light of the morning sun.
I know that this is not a perfect picture, but I really liked the colour of the scene.

Getting closer to town I saw this American Kestrel sitting on the wires. Experience has told me that as soon as I stop it will flay away.I guess this bird was different as it sat long enough for me to get several shots of it.I was hoping he would turn around, but you see, beggars can't be choosers,so I had to settle for this view.

I was happy with the pictures I got that morning, but a few days later I was able to photograph a much prettier sunrise. Pictures to follow in another post to come soon,so stay tuned.

Thought for today:
Creation is filled with signs that point to the Creator.

  1. Nothing beats sunrise and sunset light for photos. Your pictures are warm and beautiful. Love the Kestrel!

  2. fave time of day! LOVE your pics!

  3. Such pretty light in all of these. Occasionally I see a kestrel, but like you said, they rarely sit still long enough to get a picture of them.

  4. That is probably the most beautiful cloudless sunrise I've ever seen. Great capture. And the kestrel did do you the honor of looking over his shoulder at you. He looks like a truly beautiful bird.

  5. wonderful! the 2nd shot is my favorite. and you did great to catch a kestral!

  6. We don't get up very early --but when we do, we love the early morning photos. Yours are excellent... I can 'see' Fall in the air up there!!!!! Beautiful.

  7. Great pictures, Ruth! That's a pretty colorful sunrise without the clouds! Love your thought for the day!!!

  8. oh MY!

    Have a Great Weekend

  9. Perfect set of photos. Love the Moon, and that Kestrel is so pretty. Your morning sun is exceptional!

  10. That's an incredible sunrise photo - what a spectrum of color!! The grain terminal does indeed look like it's on the sea! Beautiful high wire kestrel - never heard of that name before. Yes, I Love that quote! Have an awesome week-end!

  11. God's natural art is my favorite of all photos.. and these are that. i love the tree in the photo with the grain terminal. and the colors are magnificent. early am is my most favorite time of the day.

  12. Your photos remind me of the ones I used to take when on retreat.

They also remind me to be aware and thankful for the beauty around us... and to take the time to 'see'

  13. Every time i see your name pop up and see all you've been doing i can't help but think how well you have coped with widowhood. How great is our God - an ever present help! So comforting to know that He had everything in hand - even our widowhood!

Bogged down in winter prep at the moment - was much easier with the two of us but i try to strike something off the list every day.

  14. What a Beautiful morning to be out so early with camera in hand. You did a great job of capturing the sunrise. Loved the vivid morning colours.
I don't think I have ever seen an American Kestrel. I do enjoy your view and all you share.
It has been awhile since I have been here. Summer has flown by and soon we will witness the lovely hues of Autumn.
And yes, signs of our Great Creator are everywhere, and it is wonderful to have eyes to see it all, and fellow photographers to share the Beauty that surrounds them.
    God Bless you Ruth
    Hugs, Dianne :)

  18. What a way to start the day. Those are all so beautiful. I agree it is usually the clouds that make a sunrise or sunset picture special, but that certainly wasn't true in this case....

  19. Ruth, lovely shots! The light was so nice!
I love it at that time of the morning. Always to still and quiet, everything coming to life!

  20. Wow, all are beautiful. The first and second are my faves. I'm you got up to share them with all of us. Have a happy week, Ruth.

  25. Hi Ruth ..

  26. These are wonderful photos, Ruth. Clouds do add drama to sunrises and sunsets but there's something about the purity of colour of a cloudless sky. There's such beauty in these.

  27. That first sunrise photo is a real stunner. I love the orange and golden colors in the sky. The moon shot is fantastic, too.

  28. wow . Magnificent once again. The skys are so brilliant in the fall .
I often get lost in the wonder of it all. , I really do.
    Gorgeous blog.

  29. Good Kestrel shot! I know what you mean about how they fly away. I've gotten to where I don't even turn on the camera usually. LOL How nice that this one decided to let you get photos.
