Some Of My Winter Visitors

We are almost till March, but in Manitoba that just means we have about one more month of winter. It could be a little more or a little less.Temperatures may vary from pleasantly mild to cold.
Spring is coming, of that we can be sure.

Today I share a few of my winter visitors with you.I also want to share a few encouraging Bible verses. Some days I struggle to remain positive but reading these verses has helped me.

28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
Matthew 11:28-19

8 It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”
Deuteronomy 31:8

6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
Philippians 4:6

16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Hebrews 4:16

9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

This last photo is an attempt at an HDR shot.During our winters the photo subjects are scarce, so these Amaryllis flowers had to do. I took several, perhaps 4-5 pictures, some under exposed, some over-exposed and some just right, then took them into a program called Aurora and merged them into one. A little tweaking and this was the final result.

Closing Thought:
“Being happy doesn’t mean everything is perfect. It means you’ve decided to look beyond the imperfections.

  1. I'm smiling, so you succeeded :-)

  2. The amaryllis is gorgeous!! I have never seen a sharp shinned hawk, your shot is impressive. Two other favorites are the Downy in the snow and the Nuthatch. Wonderfully uplifting verses!!

  3. It's hard to be discouraged with those words from our God. Your photos are really good. The hawk is gorgeous. And your HDR photo is really beautiful.

  4. Love, love, love all the pictures and Scriptures! Perfect ending to my Sunday :)

  8. another GREAT closing thought, i always look forward to them!!

your captures are you may remember, after a hawk visited my yard, my birds disappeared, for at least a week. some have returned, but many have not. i hope you do not have a similar experience, i know you love your birds like i do!!

  9. Great shots of birds. I have not been out to shoot birds yet.

  14. Such beautiful pictures Ruth, I especially like the male downy in the snow.Thank you for the verses from God, they still my soul.

  15. Thank you for the Bibleverses. It was helping me too!

  16. You have so many birds come to visit! It went a few degrees above freezing today and actually felt warm because the sun was shining. Your amaryllis was glorious!

  17. what beautiful snowy birds ... saw a woody the woodpecker this evening. there was some one shooting ... i wonder if it scared him or what not? no clue ... but i love seeing him flying around. way cool. ( ;

  18. Nice pictures. I really enjoy the visits from chickadees, redpolls, downys and nuthatches here. Thanks!

  19. Hi Ruth. I am using a bridge super zoom camera with a 50X zoom. I used to have a Nikon, now it is a Canon. They are about the same.

  20. You get so many wonderful birds to your feeders, Ruth! I can't put bird feeders out as the squirrels here will empty them in an hour. Raccoons also come to eat the bird seed and they make a mess. I leave my flowers to go to seed and the birds will search around in my dormant lavender for seeds. It;s fun to watch them do that!

Thank-you for taking the time to visit this blog.I appreciate your comments.I read everyone, but do not always take the time to respond to each one. Please come back again real soon.
