Flowers For A Rainy Day

It's a cool and rainy day where I am, so maybe I can brighten the day with a few flowers.
Flowers were all seen at The English Gardens in Winnipeg,Manitoba. These gardens are not very large, but are packed full of vibrant color all summer and into fall.

I very much enjoy Dahlias, but cannot seem to grow them myself, so I enjoy the ones at these gardens. Bonus point is that I don't have to do any weeding.

Getting a little closer to see the details of these complex flowers.

The old-fashioned Zinnia is another lovely flower. I used to not like them when Mom had them in her garden. They seemed to simple to me, but now I think they are gorgeous and full of detail.

Another flower which I have tried multiple time to grow is the Foxglove. Once again, I didn't have the right touch, but they grow and bloom profusely at the English Gardens.

One more Dahlia. This one has a very different form of petals and colouring, but is every bit as beautiful as the others. This one also has interesting coloration.

Something To Think About:
FAITH is like Wi-Fi,

it’s invisible but it has the power to connect you to what you need.

  1. Loved your flowers and your wifi quote. I, too had no luck with dahlias. My only success was with amaryllis and old-fashioned begonias. But even those fell to neglect after Hurricane Katrina. And then, with my mother's failing health, I made twice a week trips to my hometown to take her to doctor's appointments, to take her shopping to restock items she liked to have on hand in her studio apartment in a new assisted living complex, and most of all to have lunch with and a good visit with her and her friends. Thank you for sharing. Even online flowers lift my spirits!

  2. All of these are beautiful! Isn't nice for others to grow flowers we can enjoy when we can't grow them ourselves :-) I've never tried dahlias but love how they look and the great variety they come in .

  4. I have never ever seen a Dahlia like the spiky first one, it is stunning! But I may just love your last one the best, it is so beautiful. The colors of it, and the sun. The Foxglove as well is so lovely, I love the color.

  6. I have never been able to grow flowers, but Bob could. But since his stroke 2 years ago this week, all our flowers are gone. he lost his green thumb, or the desire to use it 2 years ago. these flowers are so pretty and the foxglove is my favorite.

  7. Thanks for sharing these beautiful flowers with us. I wish we had a rainy day down here -- we've been very dry for about a month now. It doesn't look as if we will get any rain for another week or so.
