This last summer has brought us a variety of weather. On one of those stormy days, my son,Steve and I headed out to see if we could get some good shots.
The sky looked pretty angry, so we felt that some good opportunities would present themselves.
We found a road seldom travelled and set up, hoping for lightening shots. I am very much a novice at this, but still got a couple of images that I am happy with.
Those dark rolling clouds looked good, even without lightening.
Off to the north, we could see the edge of the storm.

One last lightening shot. Of course I would have preferred a bolt that was vertical, but this is what I got.

Maybe you prefer the gentler side of nature, so I am including some flowers captured at the English gardens.
I don't have a name for this one, but it does look like a Queen Anne's Lace.
Water Lilies are always an attraction to me.I can't pick a favourite here.
I really like the added reflection in this shot.
This is a False Spirea.I really like those soft and gentle looking plumes.
As we transition from summer to fall and then winter, let's keep in mind that each season has it's own beauty.

Ruth, Amazing images! That was definitely a dramatic sky!
We had our first storm of the season this past couple of days! Not so bad but we had lots of wind and a lot of rain!
Started on the first day of Autumn! Just like the switch was clicked from Summer to Fall!!
What amazing storm shots! The lightening ones look so professional! And one is purple! The sky; I especially like the dark sky with the bar of light at the bottom. Beautiful water lilies, The deep red is my favorite.
Your weather shots are incredible. The skies you captured were quite angry looking and the lightning is a bonus.
The blooms lift my spirits. Thank you.

Wow, Ruth! Such great photos of the lightning! I've never managed to capture that before. Beautiful! Love the stormy skies and the flowers too. All so beautiful. Love the water lilies. I only have the white ones on my pond. Such a variety of beauty...all from our wonderful Creator God. Thank you for sharing. Now I need to run outside and take some pictures of our sunset! Toodle loo!
Great photos of the lightning! That's hard to photograph. Liked your pond lily photos too.

I really like your pictures of the gentle side of nature, but the storm clouds also have a fascinating beauty.
I have never captured a lightning strike. So I would be extremely happy with either of these. I so love that sky in all its glory. And the flowers/water lilies are gorgeous!
