Sunset At The Marsh

Friends, we are once again stepping into a new month. What will the month of May bring?

We don't know, and in my opinion that is a good thing. We can all do our part to make this month or any time the best it can be.

Take time to see the beauty of springtime, whether it be returning birds, new growth or even a beautiful sunset.

Today I ask you to join me at the marsh, Kaleida Marsh to be exact.

The birds on the water became secondary as the sun was setting and giving us that path of gold across the water.

I know I take far too many photos at a time like this, but I don't want to miss even a moment of beauty.

A small flock of ducks are silhouetted against that orange sky.

The look and feel of the sunset changed moment by moment. I really like the moody look in this shot and the next.

This was one of those sunsets that held me spellbound, even as the light faded.

At the edge of the Pembina Valley stands a small cluster of mature trees, which look like one tree, hence it is referred to at my home as The Tree.
This is the scene I captured recently. the dull cloudy sky left me with a rather dull picture, but with the right programs that can all be changed.

Here is the same picture, taken into Luminar and a more interesting sky added to it.
Luminar is a very easy to use, yet powerful editing program.
I don't like changing the look of a photo so drastically, without telling my viewers what I have done.
Which version do you prefer?

A setting sun still whispers a promise for tomorrow.

I think the sunset photos are captivating! And your edited "Tree"...I choose the 1st...the natural version with drama.

You already know how I feel about edits. I love them and this one is magnificent and the edit is stunning. I love The Tree and even though I know which one it will be after so many years of seeing it, i did not know it is a cluster. I love all your photos of it, not matter the season... I checked the price for Luminar and it is very reasonable if I found the right one. IF i had a DSLR camera and IF i were still going out taking photos, I would want it. Since I only PLAY at taking photos mostly with cell, i will stick with PM and other free ones

Love the header and the photos. It is amazing how the sky can change to look of a scene.

Thank you for sharing your photos from the marsh -- the sky is gorgeous. I like the edit of the sky that you did with the tree.

Lovely shots. They are all very pretty for the a variety of uses. I, too, run my images through Photoshop to crop and edit. They are so much more clear and dramatic for the use when the unneeded aspects are removed.

These are beautiful and each evoke a different mood! Very skilful edit, but I'm still for the original which captures the moment in time. Thanks for sharing.

My son uses Luminar and Lightroom all the time in his photography business. It can really make a difference in contrast.
Love the sunset photos especially the last moody one with the shades of purple in it too.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful shots with us.

I especially like the next-to-the-last sunset shot, although they're all beautiful. I enjoyed the sequential approach to the series. I also have Luminar, and I love the sky replacement feature. It really made a pleasing change in your photo of The Tree.

Hi Ruth, I could go on and on about this post, but I'll keep it short and just say it is splendid. And your May header ... Wow. Your posts are a blessing and thank you for sharing. John

Oh, my, I don't know which of the tree photos I like best. I like both. But oh, the sunset photos...they are just simply wonderful. I do love those last two the best. I think. Not even sure about that.
