I have titled this post, Choosing To See Beauty, for a good reason.
Do you see beauty when you look at a Turkey Vulture or a Thistle? I do and that is because I choose to see it.
OK, I will agree that the face of these vultures is not the most beautiful, but when they are soaring in the sky, it is pure beauty.
In the first picture you can clearly see those silver feathers that make these birds shine in the sky.
What about the Thistle? Do you think of it as a beautiful flower or a weed to be done away with?
I am aware that farmers don't like these plants, but I still think these flowers have extraordinary beauty.

The vulture face is truly something only a mother could love, but a necessary bird! As for a thistle, I'm right there with you ...they ARE beautiful.
Boy, do I ever love thistle. I did not get to take any good pics this year and I sure missed it. It is one of my favorite subjects. And vultures are amazine. We live in a little town and they are part of the clean-up crew here, too. I have seen them in the street, and they used to gather on a tower downtown for...and may still do it. It was so bad they had to put up carports to park the police cars under.
I do think Thistles are beautiful. And to me thereare no weeds, only wldflowers. Your vultures in flight are majestic! And I agree that they have their important place in the scheme of things.
Regarding the thistle, I have some very interesting and beautiful photos of thistle flowers. They are stunning...just don't bump into them! And the vultures? Well, I find that I am disappointed when I see them soaring high in the sky when I think at first it just might be an eagle, and then when I get a better look I can see it is "just a vulture", but yes, I am thankful for the vultures and the important work they do in cleaning up our roadways. They are fun to watch actually. But that face? Well...like someone else already said, "it's a face only a mother could love..." LOL. But in God's eyes, they are beautiful creatures with an important mission. Yes, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. When we look through God's eyes, we always see the beauty He sees. Those were amazing photos, btw.
I may never see a vulture are beautiful, but I enjoy any kind of bird just for what they are. They are all interesting. I love thistles! How could someone not love that beautiful color and shape and interesting stages?
I've always thought of those vultures as formidable.
I love to watch the vultures soar. They come around here quite often. Thistles are beautiful.
i love thistles and i love vultures and this is the best photo of a vulture i have ever seen. i like them because they are ugly and such good workers, God's Garbage Guys. I did not know there wings were so gorgeous. for some reason our flocks of them are gone, they left in 2020 and have not come back leaving the streets with no one to clean up roadkill
I'm not sure I'll ever get to the point where I see thistles as beautiful, but I will concede your point about the turkey vultures in flight.
Nice captures of the turkey vulture in flight!
Vultures are not something pretty to look up at close. ;-) Flying they are majestic. Thistles are beautiful!
One of my friends used to live in a home overlooking a river here in Oregon and the turkey vultures would perch on her patio railing and stare at her. She would say to them, "Go away. I am not dead yet." LOL
I really like your mindset..positive is a healthy way to look at life. I sure don't do it all the time, but I really am trying.
Love the photos and the vulture is ugly but that face has so much character to it. It definitely is a necessity to the circle of life.
Thistles are gorgeous...prickly but beautiful. Perfect photo ops.
